JM Beautiful Wood Floors have now done floors for us on two occasions. They are extremely easy to work with and are very professional. The end product is of course the best part: 115-year-old heart pine floors that are absolutely gorgeous! If you have pets we highly recommend the professional grade finish. Two dogs and four cats and we have no scratches. The matte finish is also very nice. It makes the floors look anything but brand new--which to us is what we wanted. The prep is fantastic. They do not cut corners there or on any part of the job. - Todd and Susan Gray (Somerville)

I highly recommend JM Beautiful Wood floors. They kept to the schedule we laid out, were courteous, and were very careful with my furniture, which had to be moved so they could tackle my wood floors. They helped me pick a perfect stain color and covered up everything so the dust and mess was minimal. The results are amazing! My floors look better than they did new. Thanks to everyone at JM Floors! - Bonnie B. (Burton)

Frequently Asked Questions

We want to help you retain the beauty and longevity of your hardwood floors! Please review these helpful tips and feel free to use the form on the Contact page to let us know if you have any other questions.

When can I start walking on my hardwood floors?

You can start walking on your floor five hours after the last coat of finish has been applied. We recommend that you walk with clean and dry shoes.

When can I move furniture back in place?

You can place your furniture back after three days, at which time the floors should be 90% cured.

When can I put my rugs back in place?

We recommend that you wait about eight days, by which time the finish should be 100% cured.

How can I prevent scratches made by the furniture?

We highly recommend that you place heavy duty felt pads under furniture, especially pieces of furniture that are being moved constantly, for example: stools, chairs, small tables, etc. This will help minimize scratches.

How can I maintain a beautiful clean floor?

We recommend that you vacuum your hardwood floors at least once a week, but if your house usually has heavy traffic, we recommend that you vacuum at least twice a week.

Can I clean/mop my floors with Pine-Sol or vinegar?

We recommend that you do not use water, vinegar, Pine-Sol, or any other cleaners that are not specifically designed for hardwood floors. Using other general-purpose cleaners will damage your hardwood floors in the long run. We recommend that you clean your hardwood floors with Bona Professional Hardwood Floor Cleaner twice a week; this will help you clean and protect your hardwood floors.

How can I protect my hardwood floors from my lovely pets?

We love our lovely pets! But we also want to protect our hardwood floors, so we recommend that you keep your pet’s claws trimmed to help minimize deep scratches on the hardwood floors. You can also lay down rugs around the house.

How often do I need to deep clean my hardwood floors?

We recommend a deep cleaning at least once a year—the deep cleaning will help remove all grime and dirt build-up on your hardwood floors.

How often do I need a recoat on my hardwood floors?

We recommend that you do a recoat at least every five to ten years, especially if there’s heavy traffic, which causes the top layer to wear out faster. A recoat will help protect and retain the beauty of your hardwood floors and will prolong the time until you need a full sanding and refinishing of your floors.

Can a recoat cover or get rid of scratches?

Yes, fortunately if the scratches are light it’s possible to get rid of them. If you need to get rid of dents and deep scratches the floors will most likely have to be fully sanded and refinished.

What can I do if I don’t want the stain color I currently have?

If you wish to change the stain color of your hardwood floors we would have to perform a full sanding to remove the existing stain, then apply the stain of your choice, and lastly apply the finish. (Note: Whether we can perform this process depends on the type of flooring and its thickness.)
